How To Know Your Worth In God

I used to wonder “What does it mean to have my worth in Christ?” When I realized and accepted my worth in Christ, my life was radically changed.

I no longer lived as someone who tried to prove herself to others, but I lived as a free person who knew WHO she was, because of WHOSE she was.

What is Your Value In God’s Eyes?

Your value is the price of Jesus’s life.

Christ was perfect.

He was God incarnate.

The creator of the vast universe in the flesh.

He came and lived a beautiful, holy, and spotless life.

That is the same worth that has been placed upon you.

You can live a free life, knowing that you have so much value.

Jesus died for you.

He would not have died for something that wasn’t worth it.

You are worth so much to him.

You were worth dying for.

Identity and Self-Worth

You might have low self-esteem because you don’t place your identity in Christ.

So what does that mean—to place your identity in Christ?

When my mindset is I am a beautiful daughter of the most High God, I am able to live a free and abundant life.

If you were to take away absolutely everything that you put your identity in –motherhood, being a wife, your beauty, a friend, a sister, your career—your identity would still be that YOU are a child of God. When I went through my cancer diagnosis, I realized I placed so much of my identity in things other than Jesus. And this really messed with my self-worth for a time.

How Does God View You?

You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.

Song of Solomon 4:7

This is how God views you. 😊

You could not be more lovely in his eyes!

He created you and called you good.

He doesn’t make mistakes.

The hard part is, how to truly accept this over yourself.

You are beautiful and worth it.

No matter how you feel, or no matter what your circumstances are. No matter what you have or haven’t done.

You are worth the price of Jesus.

Worth Found in God Bible Verses

Self-worth in the Bible can be shown in many of these verses.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed

Isaiah 53:5

What greater way to show how much we were worth it to God, than for Him to die for us.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

Even in our sin, Jesus died. Not when we “were perfect or striving to follow all the rules” — in our sin.

…you were bought with a price.

1 Corinthians 6:19

And that price was Jesus!

You have searched me, Lord,

    and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;

you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;

you are familiar with all my ways.

Psalm 139: 1-3

I love Psalm 139 because it talks about how intimately God knows us. I don’t have to worry about what man thinks of me, because I am fully known and loved by my Father.

For God so loved the world, he gave his only son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

He gave his son, for you.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45

Jesus came and was a servant. This was so counter-cultural for the day and time he lived in. He wouldn’t serve us if we weren’t of great worth to him!

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

Ephesians 2:10

God’s masterpiece! GOD. The giver of life— calls you His masterpiece. Wow!

“The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.”

Psalm 121:5

Know Your Worth In God

Once you know your worth in God, your life will radically change!

God the Father can view you through the lens of Jesus.

Not with flaw or stain, but as beautiful as Christ.

This is essentially why Jesus came.

To take your sin away.

You don’t have to prove anything by attending church X number of times a week.

Just be.

Exist.

God loves you and views you as worthy.
